Hospital posts are many and varied but have all been assessed as adding something unique to the GP training experience. The GP posts are usually in the same GP practice allowing trainees an opportunity to work with the same Primary Care team for a longer period of time.
This may change in the future with a move to spending 24 months in General Practice and 12 months in hospital posts.
The path to get into GP training can be varied but there are a few things along the way that you might like to know that could help.

If you have been unable to secure an FY job in GP, organising a GP taster week if definitely worthwhile. This will give you a flavour of a typical week in general practice.
